CKV: Workshop Archief in de artistieke praktijk

Wat is een kunstarchief? Waarom is het waardevol om als kunstenaar je archief te bewaren? Hoe kan je archief niet alleen dienen als documentatie van je werk, maar ook als een actief onderdeel van je artistieke praktijk of onderzoek? Wat met een actieve benadering naar je archief?
In deze workshop ontdek je hoe je jouw archief kunt beheren, inzetten als inspiratiebron en gebruiken als een dynamisch instrument binnen je werkproces.
Een kunstenaarsarchief is van groot belang voor je artistieke praktijk, of je er nu mee bezig bent of niet. Je archief kan gezien worden als een waardevol onderdeel van je artistieke praktijk, als bron van je inspiratie of binnen je artistiek onderzoek. Daarom organiseert CKV workshops voor kunstenaars jong en oud om samen te kijken naar de verschillende mogelijkheden en interpretatie van je archief binnen je artistieke praktijk. Dit doen we aan de hand van enkele inspirerende praktijkvoorbeelden en het meegebracht archiefmateriaal.
Wat kun je verwachten?
De workshop begint met een introductie tot wat een kunstenaarsarchief is en hoe deze nuttig kan zijn voor je artistieke praktijk. Vervolgens ga je actief aan de slag met je eigen archiefmateriaal en verken je verschillende manieren waarop je dit kunt integreren in je artistieke praktijk of onderzoek. We maken ruimte voor jou individuele noden en vragen, voor uitwisseling en interacties.
Voorbereiding
Ter voorbereiding voor deze workshop raden we de deelnemers aan om een selectie van hun archiefmateriaal mee te nemen. Dit kan foto’s, een harde schijf met documentatie, agenda’s, schetsboeken of notitieboekjes zijn.

Praktisch
Deelname aan de workshop is gratis. De workshop is beperkt tot een maximum van 20 personen, daarom vragen wij om op voorhand in te schrijven via de link.

In this workshop, you will explore how to manage your archive, use it as a source of inspiration, and activate it as a dynamic tool within your working process.
An artist’s archive is of great importance to your artistic practice, whether you are consciously engaging with it or not. Your archive can be seen as a meaningful component of your practice, a source of inspiration, or a foundation for artistic research. That is why CKV organises workshops for artists of all ages to explore the different possibilities and interpretations of the archive within artistic practice. We do this through inspiring case studies and the archival materials participants bring along.
What to expect
The workshop begins with an introduction to what an artist’s archive is and how it can support your artistic practice. You will then work hands-on with your own archival materials and explore different ways of integrating them into your practice or research. We make space for your individual needs and questions, as well as for exchange and interaction.
Preparation
To prepare for the workshop, we encourage participants to bring a selection of their archival materials. These may include photographs, a hard drive with documentation, calendars, sketchbooks, or notebooks.

Voor haar dienstverlening richt het Centrum Kunstarchieven Vlaanderen zich op actoren uit het brede veld van de hedendaagse beeldende kunst zoals kunstenaars, curatoren, kunsthallen, verzamelaars, critici, galeries en andere kunstprofessionals en staat hen bij met raad en daad in het vormen, bewaren en duurzaam ontsluiten van hun archief.
Het Centrum Kunstarchieven Vlaanderen volgt de ontwikkelingen binnen de archiefwerking gerelateerd aan hedendaagse kunst in de meest uiteenlopende artistieke praktijken wereldwijd op de voet, om die op een bevattelijke manier te vertalen naar de lokale situatie. Het CKV licht hiervoor enkele best practices uit en reikt, in het licht van de specifieke noden van de archiefvormer, allerhande tools en documenten aan. CKV tracht in bepaalde situaties te bemiddelden en een brug slaan tussen mogelijke partners om een goede bewaring van een specifiek archief te garanderen.
