Maurice Meewisse, Beeke van Wingaarden, Didianne Leusink, Elisa Verkoelen, Yan-Bing Wu:
Kunstpodium T, 2026

Within the framework of the Apprentice/Master programme, a group of freshly graduated artists is paired with an established artist. This year, Off the Grid welcomes graduates Beeke van Wingaarden, Didianne Leusink, Yan-Bing Wu, Elisa Verkoelen & Yan-Bing Wu, who will be collaborating with established artist Maurice Meewisse. On June 24, 2026, they will present the outcome of their residency.

Meet the artists:

Maurice Meewisses works start with a curiosity about how people comprehend or experience their surroundings as well as how things and histories relate to each other. He searches for relationships or frictions and uses those as an impulse to make new work. Over the last years there has been a shift within the focus of his practice which comes from the question of what he brings with himself. This changes his role as an artist and his relationship with the audience: on one hand, he shifted from a figure on a stage towards hosting and facilitating others. On the other hand, it opened up the possibility to make atelier work where he attempts to be critical towards himself, his desires and his dreams.

Maurice Meewisse is a Rotterdam-based artist. He finished his post-master’s at a.pass (Brussels) in 2019 and was connected to the same institute in 2022 and 2023 as an associate researcher. He did projects in Berlin (Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin 2025), Denmark (Spanien 19C, 2022), and the Netherlands (Into Nature biennial, Bargerveen, 2021, and Stroom, The Hague 2023). He is represented by JOEY RAMONE Rotterdam.

Beeke van Wingaarden, born in Amsterdam and currently based in Utrecht, works at the intersection of installation and performance. The work unfolds as a space in which action, material and presence are tightly interwoven. Within this practice, themes such as finality, limitation, temporariness and concealment are explored through a material language that merges industrial and organic elements. The work reflects on physical exertion, repetition and the fading presence of the human body within larger systems, allowing moments of absurdity and futility to surface.

Didianne Leusinks work focuses primarily on installations, performances, sculptures, and video- and sound works. She views her practice as an ecosystem where materials, processes and ideas are interdependent and metabolise each other – a living body in which energy constantly redirects itself through various media and in which materials shape-shift in each arrangement. Through engaging with materials such as glass and ceramics and maintaining an evolving archive of field recordings, Didianne focuses on the question: how can listening be experienced through other senses than only our hearing? In response to this question, tactility is used as a gateway into connecting with the environment and the organic and inorganic matters that we are entangled with. Didianne graduated from the research master’s programme Ecology Futures at the Master Institute of Visual Cultures in s‑Hertogenbosch (NL).

Elisa Verkoelen works from the empty space in shells, the silence in conversations and the leftovers of soap we wash our hands with. Her work as a multidisciplinary artist and writer focuses on physical ways of remembrance and the relation between daily life and grief. She uses site-specific techniques and landscape-dependent materials, with a preference for bronze, soap, wood, and paper. Her work consists of installations, sculptures, poems, performance, prints, and site-specific work. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in In Situ at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and a Bachelor of Design in Illustration at HKU.

Yan-Bing Wu is a visual artist from China, living and working in the Netherlands. Through installation, moving images, objects, and text, her practice grows from personal storytelling and everyday experiences. Her work brings together fragments of memory and imagination to form intimate narrative spaces, where time and structure are held open, where things are allowed to exist as they are.
