Deze mast van 20 meter fungeert als permanente tentoonstellingsruimte in de publieke ruimte voor een groeiend archief van Vlaanderens grootste kunstenaars vlaggen. Nieuw gecreëerde vlaggen van Leuvense kunstenaars worden afgewisseld met vlaggen uit het archief van 019. Nadien reizen de nieuwe vlaggen ook naar de reeds bestaande mobiele mast in Gent.
Dit project kadert in de bredere ambities van de stad Leuven om Leuven samen op de kaart als ankerplaats voor kunstenaars en als artistiek labo waarin publiek ook een rol als mede-eigenaar kan opnemen, met ruimte voor creatieve chaos, braakland en het onbekende.
Cas-co neemt een belangrijke rol binnen het netwerk van beeldende kunstenorganisaties en investeert mee in een netwerk van kunstenaars die vanuit en in Leuven hun artistieke loopbaan verder kunnen verkennen en uitbouwen. De vlaggenmast bevindt zich op het openbare schoolplein van STROOM, op 2 minuten loopafstand van het hoofdgebouw van Cas-co in Vaartstraat.

This 20-meter flagpole serves as a permanent exhibition space in the public realm for a growing archive of Flanders’ largest artist flags. Newly created flags by Leuven artists are alternated with flags from the 019 archive. Subsequently, the new flags will also travel to the existing mobile mast in Ghent. This project is part of the broader ambitions of the City of Leuven to collectively put Leuven on the map as an anchor point for artists and as an artistic laboratory in which the public can also take on a role as co-owners, with room for creative chaos, experimentation and the unknown.
Cas-co plays an important role within the network of visual arts organisations and participates in a network of artists who can further explore and develop their artistic careers from and within Leuven. The flagpole is located on the public playground of STROOM School, a 2 min walk from Cas-co’s main building at the Vaartstraat.
