Elise El Yousfi (b. 2001, Frankrijk) is beeldend kunstenaar en woont in Brussel. In haar werk onderzoekt ze voornamelijk de relatie tussen beeldhouwkunst en poëzie. Deze twee vormen vloeien in elkaar over en leiden tot scenografische installaties die meerdere zintuigen aanspreken en ideeën rond identiteit en ergens thuishoren onderzoeken. Haar Marokkaanse en Franse achtergrond, evenals haar eigen dromen, vormen daarbij een vertrekpunt. Thema’s als persoonlijke herinneringen en zelfbeeld zijn nauw met elkaar verbonden. El Yousfi werkt met uiteenlopende materialen en maakt stalen structuren waarin keramiek, as en kant worden verwerkt. Deze groeien uit tot sculpturale speelruimtes die doen denken aan vertrouwde, natuurlijke vormen en symbolische verbanden leggen tussen objecten en taal.

Elise El Yousfi (b. 2001, France) is an artist living in Brussels. Her work primarily explores the relationship between sculpture and poetry. These two forms intertwine to produce multisensory, scenographic installations that investigate ideas of identity and belonging. Drawing on her Moroccan and French heritage, as well as her own dreams, these themes are closely linked to personal memory and selfhood. El Yousfi works with a range of materials, creating steel structures that incorporate ceramics, ash and lace. These become sculptural playgrounds reminiscent of familiar, natural forms, drawing symbolic connections between objects and language.

El Yousfi’s praktijk bevindt zich op het snijvlak van beeldhouwkunst en poëzie. Via schrijven en tekenen transformeert ze tekst tot sculpturen waarin herinnering, identiteit en vragen rond opgroeien met elkaar verweven zijn.
In de beeldhouwkunst vond El Yousfi een manier om haar Marokkaanse en Franse roots en haar dubbele identiteit verder te onderzoeken. Met staal, keramiek, organische materialen en kant bouwt ze immersieve structuren op, die een beeldtaal vormen die zowel persoonlijk als universeel resoneert. In haar werk reflecteert ze op wat het betekent om op te groeien terwijl het verleden zich voortdurend opnieuw aandient — onopgelost en opdringerig.
Haar oeuvre wordt gekenmerkt door het terugkerende gebruik van de kleur wit, die verwijst naar de kwetsbare ruimte tussen herinnering en volwassenheid. Ook de speelplaats keert terug als motief: een plek van troost, ontdekking en spel.
Sinds het najaar van 2026 is El Yousfi resident bij Studio Minckelers bij Cas-co in navolging van haar M‑residentie (01.04 – 29.10.2026) die gepaard ging met een presentatie bij M Leuven.

El Yousfi’s practice unfolds at the intersection of sculpture and poetry. Through writing and drawing, she transforms text into sculptures in which memory, identity and questions surrounding growing up are interwoven.
In sculpture, El Yousfi found a way to further explore her Moroccan and French roots and her dual identity. Using steel, ceramics, organic materials and lace, she constructs immersive structures within a visual language that resonates both intimately and universally. In her work, she reflects on what it means to grow up while the past persistently presents itself — unresolved and intrusive.
Her oeuvre is characterised by a recurring use of the colour white, which references the fragile space between memory and adulthood. The playground also returns as a motif: a place of solace, discovery and play.
Since autumn 2026, El Yousfi has been active as resident at Studio Minckelers at Cas-co following her M‑residency (01.04 – 29.10.2026) which was accompanied by a presentation at M Leuven.
