Let's Talk Leuven: Guillaume Jannes & Momo Gordon
Guillaume Jannes & Momo Gordon share a digital life by finding each other in the crevices of the internet. They will introduce their methodology for artistic production in light of their exhibition at VROOM Brussels and the release of their first publication.

Sinds de zomer van 2022 hebben kunstenaars Guillaume Jannes (2000, België) en Momo Gordon (1992, VS) een digitaal leven gedeeld; ze vonden elkaar in de uithoeken van het internet. Via een conversatie-gedreven correspondentie creëerden de kunstenaars, onbewust, een archief van queer, relationeel en narratief artistiek onderzoek, zwevend tussen het persoonlijke en het theoretische.
Deze correspondentie leidde tot het vervloeien van de grenzen tussen hun autonome praktijken, die gebaseerd zijn op tekenen en tekst.
Naar aanleiding van hun eerste duo-tentoonstelling bij VROOM in Brussel en de publicatie van hun eerste gezamenlijke boek bij Colorama Books, zullen Jannes en Gordon in deze talk de verknoping van hun correspondentie uit de voorbije drie jaar ontrafelen. Ze onthullen het potentieel van interpersoonlijke relaties als methodologie voor artistieke productie en raken thema’s aan als liminaliteit, autofictie en queer utopie.

Since the summer of 2022 artists Guillaume Jannes (2000, Belgium) and Momo Gordon (1992, USA) have shared a digital life; finding each other in the crevices of the internet. Through conversational correspondence the artists have created, unknowingly so, an archive of queer, relational and narrative artistic research, suspended between the personal and theoretical. This correspondence resulted in a clouding of the boundaries of their autonomous practices based in drawing and text.
In light of their first duo-show at VROOM in Brussels and the publishing of their first collaborative book by Colorama Books, in this talk, Jannes and Gordon will untie the knotting of their correspondence over the past three years. Revealing the potential of interpersonal relations as a methodology for artistic production and touching on themes like liminality, auto-fiction and queer utopia.
