Let's Talk Leuven: Sofia Boubolis & Stans Vrijsen

Stans & Sofia is een artis­tiek col­lec­tief gevormd door Stans Vrijsen (geb. 1995, België) en Sofia Boubolis (geb. 1981, België). Werkend tus­sen mate­ri­aals­i­mu­la­tie en spe­cu­la­tief onder­zoek, gebrui­ken ze schil­der­kunst, teke­nin­gen, instal­la­ties en archief frag­men­ten om de rela­tie tus­sen mate­rie en her­in­ne­ring te ver­ken­nen. Voor hun resi­den­tie bij Cas-co onder­zoe­ken ze de reser­ves van Museum M en de archie­ven van KADOC, met de focus op onge­do­cu­men­teer­de of ver­waar­loos­de objec­ten. Door mid­del van recon­struc­tie en uit­vin­ding stelt hun werk vra­gen bij de bewa­ring, her­den­king of het stil­zwij­gen van geschiedenissen. 

Tijdens Let’s Talk Leuven pre­sen­te­ren Stans & Sofia hun inspi­ra­tie­bron­nen, hun onder­zoek en hun inte­res­se in archi­ve­rings- en con­ser­ve­rings­prak­tij­ken. Deze pre­sen­ta­tie mar­keert tevens de ope­ning van hun ten­toon­stel­ling bij Cas-co Off the Grid, die te zien is tot en met 31 mei.

Stans & Sofia is an artis­tic col­lec­ti­ve for­med by Stans Vrijsen (b. 1995, Belgium) and Sofia Boubolis (b. 1981, Belgium). Working bet­ween mate­ri­al simu­la­ti­on and spe­cu­la­ti­ve research, they use pain­ting, dra­wings, instal­la­ti­ons, and archi­val frag­ments to explo­re the rela­ti­ons­hip bet­ween mat­ter and memo­ry. For their resi­d­en­cy at Cas-co, they are inves­ti­ga­ting the reser­ves of Museum M and the archi­ves of KADOC, focu­sing on undo­cu­men­ted or neglec­ted objects. Through recon­struc­ti­on and inven­ti­on, their work rai­ses ques­ti­ons regar­ding the pre­ser­va­ti­on, com­me­mo­ra­ti­on, or silen­ce of his­to­ries.

During Let’s Talk Leuven, Stans & Sofia pre­sent their sour­ces of inspi­ra­ti­on, their research, and their inte­rest in archi­ving and con­ser­va­ti­on prac­ti­ces. This pre­sen­ta­ti­on also marks the ope­ning of their exhi­bi­ti­on at Cas-co, *Off the Grid*, which runs until May 31.
