Let's Talk Leuven: Sofia Boubolis & Stans Vrijsen

Stans & Sofia is een artistiek collectief gevormd door Stans Vrijsen (geb. 1995, België) en Sofia Boubolis (geb. 1981, België). Werkend tussen materiaalsimulatie en speculatief onderzoek, gebruiken ze schilderkunst, tekeningen, installaties en archief fragmenten om de relatie tussen materie en herinnering te verkennen. Voor hun residentie bij Cas-co onderzoeken ze de reserves van Museum M en de archieven van KADOC, met de focus op ongedocumenteerde of verwaarloosde objecten. Door middel van reconstructie en uitvinding stelt hun werk vragen bij de bewaring, herdenking of het stilzwijgen van geschiedenissen.
Tijdens Let’s Talk Leuven presenteren Stans & Sofia hun inspiratiebronnen, hun onderzoek en hun interesse in archiverings- en conserveringspraktijken. Deze presentatie markeert tevens de opening van hun tentoonstelling bij Cas-co Off the Grid, die te zien is tot en met 31 mei.

Stans & Sofia is an artistic collective formed by Stans Vrijsen (b. 1995, Belgium) and Sofia Boubolis (b. 1981, Belgium). Working between material simulation and speculative research, they use painting, drawings, installations, and archival fragments to explore the relationship between matter and memory. For their residency at Cas-co, they are investigating the reserves of Museum M and the archives of KADOC, focusing on undocumented or neglected objects. Through reconstruction and invention, their work raises questions regarding the preservation, commemoration, or silence of histories.
During Let’s Talk Leuven, Stans & Sofia present their sources of inspiration, their research, and their interest in archiving and conservation practices. This presentation also marks the opening of their exhibition at Cas-co, *Off the Grid*, which runs until May 31.
