This autumn, Cas-co turns its attention closer to home. Rather than looking beyond Leuven, this edition of our Curatorial Talks explores the richness and diversity of curatorial practices already active within the city. We invite three female curators whose work approaches curating from distinct yet complementary positions: Karen Verschooren from STUK, whose institutional practice has a strong focus on moving image and media arts; Laure Vanrijckeghem, curator of Paraplufabriek and residency coordinator at M Leuven, working closely with artistic development and residency practices; and Sevie Tsampalla, whose work within Lov2030 approaches programming through facilitation, collaboration and the long-term process of building a European Capital of Culture.
Each curator will spend time at Cas-co through a series of studio visits with our resident artists, followed at noon by a Curatorial Talk open to everyone. The talks are conceived less as formal lectures and more as starting points for exchange: a chance to hear how different curatorial practices are shaped, what questions they are currently grappling with, and how they work alongside artists and institutions. Afterwards, we gather around the table for a communal lunch. Bring something to the table — food, a question, or both — and continue the conversation with us.

Sevie Tsampalla werkt als curator op het snijvlak van hedendaagse kunst en publieke ruimte. Haar curatoriële praktijk vertrekt vanuit een interesse in ecologie, feminisme en collectieve vormen van cultuurproductie.
Ze geeft een achtergrond in kunstgeschiedenis en culturele studies en behaalde ze een doctoraat in Exhibition Studies aan Liverpool John Moores University. Haar onderzoek verkende de spanningen en mogelijkheden die ontstaan wanneer grootschalige biënnales zich verhouden tot praktijken van commoning.
Ze werkte nauw samen met kunstenaars aan tentoonstellingen en nieuwe opdrachten in samenwerking met artist-run spaces en musea, waaronder Tate Liverpool, S.M.A.K., Kunsthal Mechelen, Pianofabriek, Castlefield Gallery en AirSpace Gallery.
Ze was mede-curator van Bruges Triennial 2024: Spaces of Possibility en maakte deel uit van het curatoriële team van Liverpool Biennial 2016. Momenteel is ze Programmaregisseur bij LOV2030, waar ze bijdraagt aan het culturele programma van Leuven & Beyond in het kader van Leuven Europese Culturele Hoofdstad 2030.

Sevie Tsampalla is a curator working at the intersection of contemporary art and public space. Her interests in ecology, feminism, and collective forms of cultural production inform her curatorial practice.
With a background in art history and cultural studies, she holds a PhD in Exhibition Studies from Liverpool John Moores University, where her research explored the tensions and possibilities that arise when large-scale biennials engage with commoning practices.
She has collaborated closely with artists to develop exhibitions and new commissions in partnership with artist-led spaces and museums, including Tate Liverpool, S.M.A.K., Kunsthal Mechelen, Pianofabriek, Castlefield Gallery, and AirSpace Gallery.
She was co-curator of Bruges Triennial 2024: Spaces of Possibility and a member of the curatorial team forLiverpool Biennial 2016. She is currently Programme Curator at LOV2030, contributing to the cultural programme of Leuven & Beyond as European Capital of Culture 2030.
