Op 18 februari lanceren artist-in-residency Stans & Sofia en collective-in-residency p.o.l.e het begin van hun residentie bij Off the Grid. We maken kennis met hun artistieke praktijk en de doelstellingen die zij tijdens de residentie willen realiseren. Er is ruimte voor interactie, dialoog en uitwisseling. Drankjes zijn aanwezig!
Stans & Sofia, gevormd door Stans Vrijsen en Sofia Boubolis, verdiepen zich tijdens de residentie in de depotcollectie van Museum M, waarbij ze zich richten op objecten die verwaarloosd, onvolledig of slecht gedocumenteerd zijn. Deze objecten, die buiten het zicht van het publiek worden bewaard, dragen latente verhalen met zich mee die vaak door archiefsystemen het zwijgen zijn opgelegd. Waar sommigen louter overblijfselen uit het verleden zien, zijn Stans & Sofia geïnteresseerd in het potentieel van de objecten voor projectie: wat deze nog kunnen activeren, verplaatsen of tot stand brengen. Tijdens de Soft Launch nodigen ze je uit om met hen in gesprek te gaan over hun vorig werk, maquettes en hun komende residentie. Op onderstaande foto is een deel van hun lopende onderzoek te zien.
p.o.l.e, opgericht door Matilde Bassetti, Darius Dolatyari-Dolatdoust, Marcos Nacar en Mallaury Scala, is een interdisciplinair collectief dat zich toelegt op experimenteel artistiek onderzoek gesitueerd op het snijvlak van performance, beeldende kunst en curatoriële praktijk. Ze creëren tijdelijke laboratoria tijdens residenties, waar materiële experimenten en artistieke methodologieën collectief kunnen worden getest en vervolgens met een publiek kunnen worden gedeeld. Hier wordt onderzoek opgevoerd, archieven tentoongesteld en performt de groep haar eigen werkproces. Het publiek wordt uitgenodigd om in de onderzoeksruimte zowel pogingen als mislukkingen te ervaren en zo de ideeën te ontdekken die uit het onderzoek van elk groepslid voortkomen. Voor de Soft Launch nodigt p.o.l.e je uit om een kleinschalige opstelling van hun archief te bekijken, waarin ze fragmenten uit de voorbije twee jaar onderzoek opnieuw openstellen.

On February 18, artist-in-residency Stans & Sofia and collective-in-residency p.o.l.e will launch the start of their residency at Off the Grid. Stans & Sofia, formed by Stans Vrijsen en Sofia Boubolis, will immerse themselves in Museum M’s reserves during their residency, focusing on objects that are neglected, incomplete, or poorly documented. Kept out of public view, these objects carry latent histories, often silenced by archival systems. Where some see remnants of the past, Stans & Sofia are interested in their potential for projection: what these objects can still activate, displace, or bring into being. During the Soft Launch, they invite you to go into dialogue about their previous work, scale models, and their upcoming residency. The picture above shows part of their ongoing research.
p.o.l.e, founded by Matilde Bassetti, Darius Dolatyari-Dolatdoust, Marcos Nacar and Mallaury Scala, is an interdisciplinary collective dedicated to experimental artistic research at the intersection of performance, visual arts, and curatorial practice. They create temporary laboratories during residencies, where material experiments and artistic methodologies can be tested collectively and then shared with an audience. Here, research is staged, archives are exhibited, and the group performs its own working process. The public is always invited to encounter both attempts and failures within the research space itself, discovering the ideas that emerge from each member’s investigations. During the Soft Launch, p.o.l.e invites you to the soft opening of their archive, to revisit excerpts from the past two years of research.
