Jente Waerzeggers is foto­graaf, beel­dend kun­ste­naar en muzi­kant. De afge­lo­pen jaren heeft hij het voed­sel dat hij en zijn vrien­den aten gedo­cu­men­teerd, en de con­text waar­in het werd ervaren.

”Jente’s lens is de snuit van een hond die zich een weg door het leven baant.”

Hij legt spon­ta­ne momen­ten en ont­moe­tin­gen vast in de muziek- en artis­tie­ke scè­nes van België. Zijn foto’s maken gebruik van haar­scher­pe flit­sen, wan­ke­le per­spec­tie­ven en one­ven­wich­ti­ge hori­zon­nen: alle­maal imper­fec­ties die Jente ver­wel­komt in zijn prak­tijk. De beel­den zijn tege­lij­ker­tijd ver­lei­de­lijk, ver­ont­rus­tend en onvoorspelbaar.

Om zijn 26e ver­jaar­dag te vie­ren, opent Jente zijn eer­ste solo­ten­toon­stel­ling met de een­vou­di­ge titel HAPPY BIRTHDAY. 

Taart en cava wor­den geserveerd.

Jente Waerzeggers is a pho­to­grap­her, visu­al artist, and musi­cian. For the past years, he has been docu­men­ting the food he and his friends ate, as well as the con­texts in which they were experienced.

« Jente’s lens is a dog’s muzz­le snif­fing its way through life. »

He cap­tu­res spon­ta­neous moments and encoun­ters in the music and artis­tic sce­nes of Belgium, his pho­to­graphs make use of razor-sharp flas­hes, wob­bly per­spec­ti­ves, tee­te­ring blurs, and unba­lan­ced hori­zons: all imper­fec­ti­ons wel­co­med into Jente’s prac­ti­ce. The ima­ges are simul­ta­neous­ly seduc­ti­ve, unsett­ling, and unpredictable.

To cele­bra­te his 26th bir­th­day, Jente will inau­gu­ra­te his first solo exhi­bi­ti­on — sim­ply tit­led HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
