Op 13 september ontvangt Cas-co curator en schrijver Yann Chateigné Tytelman voor een lunch talk en studio visits. Tijdens de talk (11u30 — 12u30) vertelt Tytelman o.a. over zijn praktijk, verleden en toekomstige projecten en actuele interesses. Nadien kan u aanschuiven voor een goed gesprek en democratisch geprijsde lunch.
Bio Yann Chateigné Tytelman
Yann Chateigné Tytelman is curator en schrijver, gevestigd in Brussel. Zijn interesses gaan van kleine geschiedenissen en tegencultuur, over wetenschappen van de geest tot de politiek van obscuriteit. Momenteel onderzoekt hij hoe een tentoonstelling de vorm van een roman kan aannemen, terwijl hij het onderwerp van de verdwijning van de nacht onderzoekt. Zijn projecten, vaak in samenwerking, bevinden zich op het snijvlak van cureren, publiceren, performance en educatie.
In 2021 — 2022 was YCT gastcurator zijn van Country SALTS, een nieuwe ruimte op het platteland nabij Basel, die kunst en landelijke levenswijzen met elkaar verbindt. Hij was artistiek adviseur bij MORPHO, Antwerpen; curator bij KANAL – Centre Pompidou, Brussel (2019 – 2021); hoofd van de afdeling Beeldende Kunst van HEAD – Genève (2009−2017) en van de programmering van het CAPC Museum voor hedendaagse kunst in Bordeaux (2007−2009).
De afgelopen jaren was hij (co)curator van Four Sisters (Joods Museum van België, Brussel, 2023), A Glittering Ruin Sucked Upwards (HISK, Brussel, 2022), Gordon Matta-Clark: Material Thinking (Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal en Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, 2019 – 2021) en By repetition, you start noticing details in the landscape (Le Commun, Genève, 2019). Hij heeft bijgedragen aan Conceptual Fine Arts, Mousse en Spike en was co-redacteur van Almanac Ecart. Een collectief archief, 1969 – 2019 (HEAD-Genève/art&fiction, 2019).
Als onafhankelijk criticus werkte hij mee aan verschillende boeken, catalogi en tijdschriften waaronder Mousse, Spike en Frieze. Hij doceerde aan verschillende scholen en universiteiten, waaronder Ecole du Louvre, Parijs, HEAD — Genève en Erg, Brussel. Tot slot is hij sinds 2018 PhD Supervisor aan de Royal Academy of the Arts in Oslo.

Bio Yann Chateigné Tytelman
Yann Chateigné Tytelman is an independent curator, editor and writer based in Brussels. His interests span from minor histories and counterculture, sciences of the mind to the politics of obscurity. He is currently exploring how an exhibition can take the form of a novel, while researching the subject of the disappearance of the Night. Often working in cooperation, his projects navigate the intersections of curating, publishing, performance and education.
He has been a guest curator at Country SALTS, a space that operates in Basel’s countryside, connecting art and rural ways of life. He was an artistic advisor and mentor at MORPHO, Antwerp (2021 – 2023) ; curator at KANAL – Centre Pompidou, Brussels (2019 – 2021); head of the Visual Arts Department and professor at HEAD – Genève (2009−2021) and of the programming at CAPC Museum of contemporary art in Bordeaux (2007 – 2009).
He recently (co-)organized exhibitions and projects such as “Four Sisters” (Jewish Museum of Belgium, Brussels, 2023), “A Glittering Ruin Sucked Upwards” (HISK, Brussels, 2022), “How to be Organic?” (Country SALTS, Bennwil, 2022), “Gordon Matta-Clark: Material Thinking” (Canadian Center for Architecture, Montreal and Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, 2019 – 2021), “By repetition, you start noticing details in the landscape” (Le Commun, Geneva, 2019). He co-edited “Almanach Ecart. A collective archive, 1969 – 2019” (HEAD-Geneva/ art&fiction, 2019), that has been awarded the Golden Letter, the highest award of the 2020 edition of the Best Book Design from All Over the World.
As a writer, he contributed to several books, catalogues and periodicals including Conceptual Fine Arts, Mousse, Spike and Frieze. He taught at various schools and universities, among them Ecole du Louvre, Paris, HEAD – Genève and erg, Brussels. Since 2018, he serves as a PhD Supervisor at the Royal Academy of the Arts in Oslo. Recently published: “Blackout”, a publication released by Geneva’s Centre d’Edition Contemporaine, in 2023.
