'Hotel Carrousel #6' - Lupe Arens cureert bij Edmond

This sixth ite­ra­ti­on of Hotel Carrousel, coo­r­di­an­ted by Cas-co resi­dent Lupe Arens, brings together four video and media art­works by Anthe Hermans, Louis Gahide, Ugo Woatzi, and Neo Zhang. Moving away from the cen­tra­li­sed, front-facing infra­struc­tu­re of the cine­ma, this group exhi­bi­ti­on leans toward an expan­si­ve and open-ended under­stan­ding of audio­vi­su­al and digi­tal medi­ums. The four art­works span video and tex­ti­le instal­la­ti­ons, dis­per­sed moni­tors, found foot­a­ge, per­for­man­ce, cho­re­o­grap­hy, sound, music, and rea­dy-made ele­ments; brin­ging together mul­ti­ple tex­tu­res and durations. 

The exhi­bi­ti­on reflects on moving ima­ge cul­tu­re not as some­thing fixed to a sta­tic screen, but some­thing that leaks, drifts, inter­rupts. Something that is sha­ped by the envi­ron­ments it enters and, in turn, res­ha­pes tho­se envi­ron­ments. In this sen­se, it extends the fra­me­work of Hotel Carrousel as a plat­form: flexi­ble in its struc­tu­re, spa­ti­al in its form, and play­ful in its appro­ach to pre­sen­ta­ti­on and col­la­bo­ra­ti­on.
