Cristina Lavosi - 'What a beautiful crime it is to conspire for the common good!'

Cristina Lavosi (geb. 1993) is beeldend kunstenaar en praktijkgericht onderzoeker, woonachtig in Den Haag. Haar werk richt zich op het onderzoeken van institutioneel geweld en het uitdagen van machtsstructuren.
Door middel van experimentele films en video-installaties analyseert en probeert ze de heersende westerse systemen van politieke organisatie kritisch te herinterpreteren, met name in relatie tot staatsgeweld, rechtssystemen en kapitalistische uitbuiting.
Tijdens haar Off the Grid-residentie, van juni tot en met september, onderzocht ze huidige visies en praktijken van transformatieve rechtvaardigheid door de lens van speculatieve fictie en collectieve visuele verbeelding. Door middel van participatieve workshops experimenteert ze met de mogelijkheden van collectieve speculatie door alternatieven voor te stellen voor de huidige dominantie in onze politieke en culturele verbeelding van straflogica als enige mogelijke reactie op conflict en geweld.
Op 23 augustus organiseerde Cristina een workshop waarin afschaffing van de slavernij en speculatieve fictie werden besproken, wat leidt tot de presentatie die op 24 september wordt geopend.

Cristina Lavosi (b. 1993) is a visual artist and practice-based researcher living in The Hague (NL). Her work is concerned with investigating institutional violence and challenging power structures.
Through experimental filmmaking and video installations, she critically analyses and attempts to reimagine prevailing Western systems of political organisation, particularly in relation to state violence, justice systems, and capitalist exploitation.
During her Off the Grid residency, from June until September, she explored current visions and practices of transformative justice and abolition through the lens of speculative fiction and collective visual imagination. Through participatory workshops, she experiments with the potential of collective speculation in proposing alternatives to the current dominance in our political and cultural imagination of punitive logic as the only possible response to conflict and violence.
On August 23rd Cristina organised a workshop in which abolition and speculative fiction was discussed, leading to the presentation to be opened on September 24th.
