Let's Talk Leuven: Dagmar Bosma

Dagmar Bosma (geb. 1994, gebruikt afwis­se­lend de voor­naam­woor­den hen/​hun en hij/​hem) is een kun­ste­naar, schrij­ver en gla­neur en woont in Amsterdam. In zijn instal­la­ties en sculp­tu­ren onder­zoekt hij trans*formatieve mate­ri­ë­le pro­ces­sen, vaak met een focus op gender.

Op uit­no­di­ging van Cas-co heeft Dagmar gesprek­ken gevoerd met ver­schil­len­de orga­ni­sa­ties en gemeen­schap­pen die zich inzet­ten voor bete­re gen­der­zorg en LGBTQIA+ rech­ten in Leuven. Deze gesprek­ken vorm­den de basis voor het ont­werp van een nieu­we vlag voor de monu­men­ta­le vlag­gen­mast van Cas-co.

Dagmar stu­deer­de filo­so­fie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam en beel­den­de kunst aan het Piet Zwart Instituut in Rotterdam. Eerder expo­seer­de hij onder meer bij Hotel Maria Kapel (Hoorn), Het Noordbrabants Museum (Den Bosch) en Manifold Books (Amsterdam), en publi­ceer­de essays op plat­forms zoals Metropolis M, Mister Motley en Tubelight.

Het kun­ste­naars­ge­sprek vindt plaats bij Cas-co op don­der­dag 12 novem­ber om 19:00 uur. Vanaf 20:00 uur lopen we geza­men­lijk naar de nabij­ge­le­gen vlag­gen­mast bij Brede School Stroom, waar Dagmar hun vlag zal ont­hul­len en hijsen.

Dagmar Bosma (b. 1994, uses they/​them and he/​him pro­nouns inter­chan­ge­a­bly) is an artist, wri­ter, and glea­ner, living in Amsterdam. In his instal­la­ti­ons and sculp­tu­ral work he exa­mi­nes trans*formative mate­ri­al pro­ces­ses, often through the lens of gender. 

At the invita­ti­on of Cas-co, Dagmar met with seve­r­al orga­ni­sa­ti­ons and com­mu­ni­ties advo­ca­ting for impro­ved gen­der health care and LGBTQIA+ rights in Leuven. These con­ver­sa­ti­ons infor­med the design of a new flag for Cas-co’s monu­men­tal flagpole.

Dagmar stu­died phi­lo­sop­hy at the University of Amsterdam and visu­al art at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam. The artist talk takes pla­ce at Cas-co on Thursday, November 12 at 7:00 PM, from 8:00 PM we will take a short walk to the near­by flag­po­le at Brede School Stroom, whe­re Dagmar will inau­gu­ra­te and hoist their flag.
