Let's Talk Leuven: Cristina Lavosi

Cristina Lavosi (°1993, Italië) is een beel­dend kun­ste­naar en prak­tijk­ge­rich­te onder­zoe­ker woon­ach­tig in Den Haag (NL). Haar werk houdt zich bezig met het onder­zoe­ken van insti­tu­ti­o­neel geweld en het uit­da­gen van machts­struc­tu­ren. Haar prak­tijk onder­zoekt hoe visu­e­le en ver­ba­le taal wordt gecon­stru­eerd en uit­ge­voerd door wes­ter­se poli­tie­ke en cul­tu­re­le instel­lin­gen om domi­nan­te ver­ha­len en nor­men van leven vorm te geven.

Tijdens Let’s Talk Leuven pre­sen­te­ren Stans & Sofia hun inspi­ra­tie­bron­nen, hun onder­zoek en hun inte­res­se in archi­ve­rings- en con­ser­ve­rings­prak­tij­ken. Deze pre­sen­ta­tie mar­keert tevens de ope­ning van hun ten­toon­stel­ling bij Cas-co Off the Grid, die te zien is tot en met 31 mei.

Cristina Lavosi (°1993, Italy) is a visu­al artist and prac­ti­ce-based researcher living in The Hague (NL). Her work is con­cerned with inves­ti­ga­ting insti­tu­ti­o­nal vio­len­ce and chal­len­ging power struc­tu­res. Her prac­ti­ce looks at how visu­al and ver­bal lan­gu­a­ge is con­struc­ted and per­for­med by Western poli­ti­cal and cul­tu­ral insti­tu­ti­ons to sha­pe domi­nant nar­ra­ti­ves and norms of living. 

During Let’s Talk Leuven, Cristina will intro­du­ce her inspi­ra­ti­on, research and inte­rest in (ana­log) and archi­val film prac­ti­ces. The talk also marks the start of Cristina’s three-month resi­d­en­cy peri­od at Off the Grid in Cas-co, which will cul­mi­na­te with a pre­sen­ta­ti­on ope­ning on September 24^th.
