Op woensdag 13 mei is Off the Grid verheugd de presentaties van het collectief in residentie p.o.l.e, en kunstenaars in residentie Sofia Boubolis & Stans Vrijsen, in Cas-co te openen. Op de openingsavond geven Sofia Boubolis & Stans Vrijsen een artist talk tijdens Let’s Talk Leuven, waarin ze hun werk en onderzoek in Leuven toelichten.

Stans & Sofia is een artistiek collectief gevormd door Stans Vrijsen (geb. 1995, België) en Sofia Boubolis (geb. 1981, België). Werkend tussen materiaalsimulatie en speculatief onderzoek, gebruiken ze schilderkunst, tekeningen, installaties en archief fragmenten om de relatie tussen materie en herinnering te verkennen. Voor hun residentie bij Cas-co onderzoeken ze de depotcollectie van Museum M , met de focus op ongedocumenteerde of verwaarloosde objecten. Door middel van reconstructie en uitvinding stelt hun werk vragen bij de bewaring, herdenking of het stilzwijgen van geschiedenissen.

Stans & Sofia is an artistic collective formed by Stans Vrijsen (b. 1995, Belgium) and Sofia Boubolis (b. 1981, Belgium). Working between material imitation and speculative research, they use painting, drawing, installation, and archival fragments to explore the relationship between matter and memory. For their residency at Cas-co, they investigate the reserves of Museum M, focusing on overlooked or undocumented objects. Through reconstitution and invention, their work questions how histories are preserved, silenced, or reimagined.

p.o.l.e is een interdisciplinair collectief dat zich toelegt op experimenteel artistiek onderzoek gesitueerd op het snijvlak van performance, beeldende kunst en curatoriële praktijk. De groep, opgericht in 2024 door Matilde Bassetti, Darius Dolatyari-Dolatdoust, Marcos Nacar en Mallaury Scala, is werkzaam in België, Duitsland en Frankrijk. Ze creëren tijdelijke laboratoria tijdens residenties, waar materiële experimenten en artistieke methodologieën collectief kunnen worden getest en vervolgens met een publiek worden gedeeld. Hier wordt onderzoek opgevoerd, archieven tentoongesteld en performt de groep haar eigen werkproces. Het publiek wordt uitgenodigd om in de onderzoeksruimte zowel pogingen als mislukkingen te ervaren en zo de ideeën te ontdekken die uit het onderzoek van elk groepslid voortkomen.

p.o.l.e is an interdisciplinary collective dedicated to experimental artistic research at the intersection of performance, visual arts, and curatorial practice. Founded in 2024 by Matilde Bassetti, Darius Dolatyari-Dolatdoust, Marcos Nacar and Mallaury Scala, the group operates between Belgium, Germany, and France. They create temporary laboratories during residencies, where material experiments and artistic methodologies can be tested collectively and then shared with an audience. Here, research is staged, archives are exhibited, and the group performs its own working process. The public is always invited to encounter both attempts and failures within the research space itself, discovering the ideas that emerge from each member’s investigations.
