Vandaag de dag, in samen­le­vin­gen die gevormd wor­den door snel­heid en effi­ci­ën­tie, is stil­te een kost­baar goed gewor­den. Zowel een troost als een han­dels­waar. In een wereld die ver­za­digd is met gelui­den, beel­den en infor­ma­tie, is er een gedeel­de behoef­te ont­staan aan lege, rui­me en onge­de­fi­ni­eer­de ruim­tes. Stilte is meer dan ooit nodig.

Op 26 april orga­ni­seert Robin Faymonville een pro­test van stil­te in de stra­ten van Leuven, waar­bij beto­gers wor­den uit­ge­no­digd om te mar­che­ren met een blan­co bord, zich fysiek mee te enga­ge­ren en samen ver­ba­le com­mu­ni­ca­tie te omzeilen.

Robin is een beel­dend kun­ste­naar, schrij­ver en per­for­mer geves­tigd in Brussel. Zijn prak­tijk onder­zoekt com­mu­ni­ca­tie via taal­ge­rich­te wer­ken op het snij­vlak van teken­kunst, instal­la­tie en performance.

SILENCE

Today, in our socie­ties sha­ped by speed and effi­ci­en­cy, silen­ce has beco­me a valu­ed resour­ce. A com­fort as well as a com­mo­di­ty. In a world satu­ra­ted with sounds, ima­ges and infor­ma­ti­on, a com­mon need for blank, wide and unde­fi­ned spa­ces has emer­ged. Silence is needed.

On April 26^th, Robin Faymonville orga­ni­sed a pro­test of silen­ce in the streets of Leuven, in which pro­tes­ters were invi­ted to march hol­ding a blank sign, enga­ging phy­si­cally, and bypas­sing ver­bal communication.

Robin is a visu­al artist, wri­ter and per­for­mer based in Brussels. His prac­ti­ce explo­res com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on through lan­gu­a­ge-based works at the inter­sec­ti­on of dra­wing, instal­la­ti­on and performance.
