Reflective Residency 2027 — Resultaten open call

Reflective Residency 2027 — Open Call Results

For the Reflective Residency 2027, organised by Cas-co in partnership with Kunsthal Mechelen, we received 36 applications. We are very pleased with the overall quality and depth of the proposals, which reflected a great diversity of practices and perspectives from curators, writers, researchers, critics and visual artists based in Belgium. Almost all applications responded thoughtfully to the questions and conceptual framework of the open call, Moving Grounds: Perspectives on (Inner-)Landscapes. As a small organisation committed to working in an artist-centred way, we sincerely appreciate the time, effort and creative work invested in preparing these proposals.

On 26 October 2026, the jury met to discuss the applications and select a candidate for the four-month Reflective Residency. It comprised Zuzanna Rachowska, Jonas Dehnen, Arthur Cordier and Matisse Brants from the Cas-co team, alongside Jessica Meuleman (Kunsthal Mechelen) and Camille Van Meenen (Komplot & CASTOR). Valerie Verhack (M Leuven) was unable to join us as she was unwell.

After careful consideration, the jury selected Saskia Smith for the Reflective Residency, taking place from 14 January to 14 May 2027. We warmly congratulate Saskia on her selection. Given the high quality of the applications, the decision was not an easy one. Over the coming weeks, our Residency Coordinator will provide short individual written feedback to the shortlisted applicants. We thank everyone who shared their practices and ideas with us and hope to create further opportunities for exchange and collaboration in the future.

This project is supported by the Flemish Community, the City of Leuven, and the City of Mechelen.
