On October 3rd, Cas-co will glad to receive curator Sorana Munsya for a lunch lecture and studio visits. During the talk at 12 o’clock, she will talk about her practice in-depth. Afterwards, you can join us for a good conversation and democratically priced lunch.
Sorana Munsya is an independent curator and psychologist based in Brussels. She is interested in the notions of fugitivity, opacity and healing, and how they relate with blackness in the West and more particularly in Europe. Focusing on contemporary visual arts created by African and black artists, she has organized, among her the solo exhibition by Belgian-Congolese researcher Leonard Pongo at the Bozar (2021), the latest solo show by Congolese artist Michèle Magema at Extra City (2021) and the group show “The Act of Breathing” (2022) in collaboration with the Kanal-Centre Pompidou. She is a member of the editorial team of the Belgian art magazine ” GLEAN”. She was assistant curator of the 5th Biennale d’art contemporain de Lubumbashi and has contributed to numerous art catalogs, including the catalog for the 12th Rencontres de Bamako and the catalog for Pascale Marthine Tayou’s last Belgian solo exhibition Tayou. She was appointed artistic advisor for a public art project in Brussels with the NGO SOS Villages d’enfants and is a member of the Belgian curators collective Celador.

Op 3 oktober ontvangt Cas-co curator Sorana Munsya voor een lunchlezing en atelierbezoek. Tijdens de lezing om 12 uur zal ze dieper ingaan op haar praktijk. Daarna kun je aanschuiven voor een goed gesprek en een democratisch geprijsde lunch.
Sorana Munsya is een onafhankelijke curator en psycholoog uit Brussel. Ze is geïnteresseerd in de begrippen vluchtigheid, ondoorzichtigheid en genezing, en hoe deze zich verhouden tot zwartheid in het Westen en meer in het bijzonder in Europa. Ze richt zich op hedendaagse beeldende kunst van Afrikaanse en zwarte kunstenaars en organiseerde onder andere de solotentoonstelling van de Belgisch-Congolese onderzoeker Leonard Pongo in Bozar (2021), de laatste solotentoonstelling van de Congolese kunstenaar Michèle Magema in Extra City (2021) en de groepstentoonstelling “The Act of Breathing” (2022) in samenwerking met het Kanal-Centre Pompidou. Ze is redactielid van het Belgische kunsttijdschrift “GLEAN”. Ze was assistent-curator van de 5e Biënnale d’art contemporain de Lubumbashi en werkte mee aan talrijke kunstcatalogi, waaronder de catalogus van de 12e Rencontres de Bamako en de catalogus van Pascale Marthine Tayou’s laatste Belgische solotentoonstelling Tayou. Ze werd benoemd tot artistiek adviseur voor een publiek kunstproject in Brussel met de NGO SOS Villages d’enfants en is lid van het Belgische curatorencollectief Celador.
