OVER//HERE is een fluf­fy, spe­cu­la­tief en hoop­vol ver­haal met als hoofd­rol onze ​‘ver­sle­ten’ pla­neet: de Aarde. Een plui­zi­ge maquet­te van het ein­de van de wereld. Een abstrac­te, sci­en­ce­fic­ti­on kome­die over dat wat niet mee mag op de raket. Een dysto­pisch feest­je met alles wat achterblijft.

Dit ver­haal speelt zich af in een nabije toe­komst en toont de ver­stoor­de, toxi­sche en schijn­baar onmo­ge­lij­ke ver­hou­ding tus­sen de mens­heid en haar bio­toop.
Alle men­sen wil­len weg­vluch­ten van deze ver­ve­len­de en kapot­te pla­neet, waar het weer onvoor­spel­baar is en onkruid onge­vraagd groeit.
Daarom bou­wen ze een gigan­ti­sche, hyper­so­ni­sche raket, die ieder­een mee­neemt naar een nieu­we, ​‘bete­re’ pla­neet.
Deze zach­te, met wol gehaak­te wereld is een kind­vrien­de­lij­ke meta­foor, een moti­ve­ren­de trai­nings­si­te voor onze ver­beel­ding en zoge­zeg­de imma­tu­re naï­vi­teit. We wil­len jon­ge­re gene­ra­ties aan­zet­ten om te reflec­te­ren, actie te onder­ne­men tegen de teloor­gang van thuis: De Aarde.

OVER//HERE is een taal­lo­ze, beel­den­de ver­tel­ling, met als ​‘wol­len’ draad het ver­haal van een spe­ci­fie­ke plek op aar­de. Met behulp van vis­draad, plak­band en dood­ge­wo­ne objec­ten onder­zoe­ken we samen met de toe­schou­wer naar de poë­zie van het alle­daag­se, waar­in onze men­se­lij­ke onhan­dig­he­den en tekort­ko­min­gen als kata­ly­sa­tor van de eco­lo­gi­sche cri­sis wor­den neergezet. 

OVERHERE col­lec­tief bestaat uit de vier jon­ge the­a­ter­ma­kers: Tristan Feyten, Runa Robbroeckx, Femke Van der Steen en Stan Martens. In 2022 won­nen ze met hun eer­ste voor­stel­ling OVER/\HERE de Boze Wolf Prijs voor Aanstormend Talent bin­nen het figu­ren­the­a­ter. Ze ver­tel­len steeds het ver­haal van een zeer spe­ci­fie­ke plek. Deze plek is het hoofd­per­so­na­ge en de mens is een pas­sant, op gelij­ke voet met de objec­ten en de natuur om hen heen. Het decor en de objec­ten op de scè­ne leven even­veel als de per­so­na­ges die voor­bij komen. Met vis­draad laten ze wol­ken zak­ken, bloe­men groei­en, rot­sen zwe­ven. In een tijd van naken­de kli­maat­ca­ta­stro­fes en doem­den­ken voe­len ze de nood om hoop­vol­le ver­ha­len te vertellen.

OVER//HERE is a fluf­fy, spe­cu­la­ti­ve and hope­ful sto­ry star­ring our ​‘worn-out’ pla­net: Earth. A fluf­fy maquet­te of the end of the world. An abstract, sci-fi come­dy about that which is not allo­wed on the roc­ket. A dysto­pi­an par­ty with eve­ry­thing left behind.

Set in a near futu­re, this sto­ry depicts the dis­tur­bed, toxic and see­min­gly impos­si­ble rela­ti­ons­hip bet­ween huma­ni­ty and its bio­to­pe.
All humans want to esca­pe from this nasty and bro­ken pla­net, whe­re the wea­ther is unpre­dic­ta­ble and weeds grow unin­vi­ted.
So they build a giant, hyper­so­nic roc­ket, which takes eve­ry­o­ne to a new, ​‘bet­ter’ pla­net.
This soft, wool-hoo­ked world is a child-friend­ly metap­hor, a moti­va­ti­o­nal trai­ning ground for our ima­gi­na­ti­on and so to speak imma­tu­re nai­ve­ty. We want to encou­ra­ge youn­ger gene­ra­ti­ons to reflect, to take acti­on against the demi­se of home: The Earth.

OVER//HERE is a lan­gu­a­ge-free, visu­al nar­ra­ti­ve, with a com­mon thread being the sto­ry of a spe­ci­fic pla­ce on Earth. Using fis­hing line, stic­ky tape and ordi­na­ry objects, we explo­re with the vie­wer the poe­try of the eve­ry­day, in which our human clum­si­ness and short­co­mings are port­ray­ed as cata­lysts of the eco­lo­gi­cal crisis.

OVERHERE col­lec­ti­ve con­sists of the four young the­a­tre makers: Tristan Feyten, Runa Robbroeckx, Femke Van der Steen and Stan Martens. In 2022, they won the Boze Wolf Prize for Up-and-coming Talent within figu­re the­a­tre with their first per­for­man­ce OVER/\OVERHERE. They always tell the sto­ry of a very spe­ci­fic pla­ce. This pla­ce is the main charac­ter and humans are pas­sers-by, on equal footing with the objects and natu­re around them. The sce­ne­ry and objects on sta­ge are as ali­ve as the charac­ters pas­sing by. With fis­hing line, they lower clouds, flo­wers grow, rocks flo­at. At a time of impen­ding cli­ma­te cata­strop­hes and defea­tism, they feel the need to tell hope­ful stories.
