'Automatic Printmaking' pt. II

‘Printmaking’ staat bekend om haar ver­mo­gen om unie­ke en soms onvoor­spel­ba­re resul­ta­ten te pro­du­ce­ren, waar­bij toe­val en onver­wach­te ele­men­ten in hun werk opne­men. Sta open voor toe­val en volg de twee­de­li­ge mas­ter­class ​‘Automatic Printmaking’. Je gaat steeds naar huis met een unie­ke edi­tie van 10. 

De mas­ter­class ​‘Automatic Printmaking’ bestaat uit twee delen, die elk afzon­der­lijk kun­nen wor­den gevolgd: 

  • De eer­ste ses­sie op 22 novem­ber is een inspi­ra­tie­mo­ment waar je via Cadavre exquis op een sim­pe­le prin­ter op zoek gaat naar onver­wach­te en waar­de­vol­le ont­dek­kin­gen in het pro­ces van het druk­ken. Denk aan onbe­doel­de kleuref­fec­ten, patro­nen en bete­ke­nis­sen die ont­staan tij­dens het druk­ken. Aansluitend volgt er een ken­nis­ma­king met de moge­lijk­he­den van de loca­tie maak­leer­plek, het toe­kom­stig gra­fisch lab en het High Tech Lab. 
  • Tijdens de twee­de ses­sie van 18 of 25 janu­a­ri (één van de twee opties te kie­zen) zal een meer diep­gaan­de ver­ken­ning en alter­na­tie­ve bena­de­rin­gen van de hout­sne­de tech­niek wor­den gepre­sen­teerd en het hand­ma­tig druk­ken van de ont­wer­pen geïn­spi­reerd op de Japanse hout­sne­de techniek.

De resul­ta­ten van de mas­ter­class zul­len die­nen om een unie­ke, door toe­val gege­ne­reer­de edi­tie te ont­wik­ke­len, die voort­komt uit ​‘auto­ma­tic writing/​printing’ en dia­loog tus­sen kunstenaars.


Praktisch

  • Voor wie? Kunstenaars (pro­fes­si­o­neel en ama­teur), gra­fisch ont­wer­pers en illu­stra­to­ren, stu­den­ten (DKO en kunstonderwijs);
  • Kostprijs: we vra­gen alleen een ver­goe­ding voor de mate­ri­a­len. Voor de ses­sie op 22/11 betaalt u 5 euro (papier, druk­inkt), en voor de ses­sie op 18/01 of 25/01 bedraagt de ver­goe­ding 50 euro (papier, hout, laser­cut, inkt);
  • Inschrijven: aan deze mas­ter­class kun­nen maxi­maal 15 men­sen deel­ne­men. Inschrijven is daar­om ver­plicht en kan via dit for­mu­lier. De inschrij­ving is pas com­pleet wan­neer u het juis­te bedrag (5÷50÷55 euro) heeft over­ge­schre­ven naar Cas-co — BE47523080665780 met ver­mel­ding ​‘inschrij­ving mas­ter­class Automatic Printmaking’;
  • Resultaat: je gaat steeds naar huis met een edi­tie van 10 exemplaren.

Printmaking is renow­ned for its abi­li­ty to pro­du­ce uni­que and at times unpre­dic­ta­ble out­co­mes, with artists fre­quent­ly incor­po­ra­ting chan­ce and unex­pec­ted ele­ments into their work. Be open to coin­ci­den­ce and fol­low the two-part mas­ter­class ​‘Automatic Printmaking’, you will always go home with a uni­que edi­ti­on of 10.

The mas­ter­class ​‘Automatic Printmaking’ con­sists of two sepa­ra­te parts, each of which can be atten­ded independently:

  • The first ses­si­on on November 22nd ser­ves as an inspi­ra­ti­o­nal moment whe­re par­ti­ci­pants, through ​‘Cadavre exquis,’ explo­re unex­pec­ted and valu­a­ble dis­co­ve­ries in the prin­ting pro­cess using a sim­ple prin­ter. This inclu­des unin­ten­ded color effects, pat­terns, and mea­nings that emer­ge during prin­ting. Subsequently, atten­dees will gain dee­per insights into the pos­si­bi­li­ties of the maak­leer­plek loca­ti­on, the futu­re (foto)Graphic Lab, and the High Tech Lab.
  • During the second ses­si­on on January 18 or January 25 (choo­se an opti­on), a more in-depth explo­ra­ti­on and alter­na­ti­ve appro­a­ches to the wood­cut tech­ni­que will be pre­sen­ted and the manu­al prin­ting of the designs inspi­red by the Japanese wood­cut technique.

The results of the mas­ter­class will ser­ve as an edi­ti­on that emer­ges from ​‘auto­ma­tic writing/​printing’ and col­la­bo­ra­ti­on among participants.


Practicals

  • For whom? Artists (pro­fes­si­o­nal and ama­teur), grap­hic desig­ners and illu­stra­tors, stu­dents (DKO and art education);
  • By who? The ses­si­ons are gui­ded by artist Lise Van den Broucke;
  • Cost: we only char­ge a fee for the mate­ri­als. For the ses­si­on on 22.11 you pay 5 euros (paper, prin­ting ink), and for the ses­si­on on 18 or 25.01 the fee is 50 euros (paper, wood, laser cut, ink);
  • Registration: a maxi­mum of 15 peo­p­le can par­ti­ci­pa­te in this mas­ter­class. Registration is the­re­fo­re man­da­to­ry and can be done via this form. The regi­stra­ti­on is only com­ple­te when you have trans­fer­red the cor­rect amount (5÷50÷55 euros) to Cas-co — BE47523080665780 sta­ting ​‘regi­stra­ti­on mas­ter­class Automatic Printmaking’;
  • Result: you always go home with an edi­ti­on of 10 copies.
