Op 7 maart ontvangt Cas-co curator Alicja Melzacka voor een dinerlezing en atelierbezoeken. Melzacka is momenteel curator-in-residence bij Off the Grid. Tijdens de lezing om 19.00 uur zal ze uitgebreid ingaan op haar praktijk. Voorafgaand aan de lezing kan je de inauguratie van Flag #5 van Bebe books bij Stroom bijwonen. Daarna kan je aansluiten voor een goed gesprek, een drankje en de open studio van Oya. Noteer 27−28.04 (13−18 uur)alvast in je agenda voor Back-to-back, een tweedaags programma met lezingen, performances en voordrachten, gewijd aan publiceren als artistieke praktijk.
Als onafhankelijk curator en schrijfster heeft Alicja Melzacka samengewerkt met kunstenaars en instellingen in België, Nederland en daarbuiten. Recente projecten zijn onder meer de solotentoonstelling Close Contact met Dominik Ritszel in de Szara Gallery in Warschau, de groepstentoonstelling Proxemities in La Box, Bourges (samen met Patricia Couvet) en Hypertext Hotel in SB34 in Brussel, dat een tentoonstelling als een interactief fictiewerk heeft opgevat.
Haar teksten hebben meerdere tentoonstellingen begeleid en zijn verschenen in kunstenaarsboeken, catalogi en de kunstpers; enkele uitgevers zijn HART, KAJET Journal, BLOK Magazine, Onomatopee, Fantôme Verlag, MER Paper Kunsthalle en Kunsthalle Wien. Ze is medeoprichtster van projectruimte celador in Brussel en bestuurslid van SB34 (Brussel) en B32 (Maastricht).
Van 2019 tot 2023 werkte ze bij Jester (voorheen CIAP en FLACC) in Hasselt en Genk, waar ze kunstenaars ondersteunde tijdens hun residentieprojecten en solotentoonstellingen cureerde met Beny Wagner & Sasha Litvintseva, Marina Sula, Marianne Berenhaut en Alexis Gautier. Ze was één van de coördinatoren van de tweejaarlijkse kunstenaarsboekenbeurs, georganiseerd door Jester, KRIEG en Oda Park.
Ze behaalde een dubbele bachelor in kunstgeschiedenis en toegepaste taalkunde en vertaalwetenschap aan de Universiteit van Gdansk (2011−2015) en een master in kunst en erfgoed: beleidsmanagement en onderwijs aan de Universiteit van Maastricht (2015−2016). In 2019 voltooide ze een postdoctorale opleiding in Curatorial Studies aan de KASK School of Arts and Conservatorium in Gent.
